After a grueling league stage featuring nearly 100 games spread over five weekends, the 2024 Minor League T20 (MiLC), a 25-team tournament that supports America's Major League Cricket (MLC), has reached its Super 8 stage. The remaining eight teams are now divided into two groups, competing in a round-robin format. The winners of each group will face off in the finals on October 6 at Grand Prairie Stadium near Dallas.

Group A

The East Bay Blazers enter the Super 8s with momentum, having lost only one game in the league stage. Their dominance is evident from their net run rate (NRR) of 1.47. Sujith Gowda, returning to form after rejoining the Blazers, scored 291 runs in 8 innings, including three half-centuries. Rising star Sanjay Krishnamurthy also impressed, with three half-centuries in four innings. Fast bowler Rushil Ugarkar, fresh off his stint with MI New York in the MLC, led the Blazers' attack, claiming 14 wickets in 8 matches.

Gajanand Singh was in superb form for the Somerset Cavaliers after being left out of the USA squad. He amassed 248 runs in 8 games, staying unbeaten in four innings and smashing 23 sixes. Alongside former West Indies international Chanderpaul Hemraj, Gajanand anchored the Cavaliers' batting. Though big-hitter Kennar Lewis has been underwhelming, he remains a dangerous threat. Former Pakistan international Najaf Shah was a standout with the ball, maintaining an economy rate of just 4.38. The Cavaliers' experienced lineup makes them strong contenders this season.

The Dallas Xforia Giants narrowly edged out the St. Louis Americans to secure their Super 8 spot. Young left-hander Rehman Dar impressed with two half-centuries at the top of the order, while captain Aakarshit Gomel struggled but remains a potential game-changer. All-rounder Shubham Ranjane has been pivotal for the Giants, delivering with both bat and ball, particularly in key moments.

The Morrisville Raptors, plagued by rain, saw three of their eight games washed out. Despite this, they managed to win four of the remaining five. However, their batsmen have had limited time in the middle, with Trevon Griffith's 50 off 25 deliveries being their sole half-century. The Raptors will rely on former West Indies all-rounder Christopher Barnwell to provide stability and power in the middle order.

Group B

The Chicago Kingsmen stormed into the Super 8s undefeated, showcasing their dominance in the highly competitive Central Zone. Even with the absence of breakout star Hassan Khan, who was called up for the CPL, the Kingsmen were unfazed. Their squad includes five former Pakistan internationals, making them one of the most formidable teams on paper and favorites to win the title.

The Seattle Thunderbolts bounced back from missing out on the Super 8s last season. Key acquisitions helped them recover after several high-profile exits following their 2022 championship run. Ruben Clinton, one of the priciest domestic MLC draft picks, redeemed himself with a strike rate of 50 and now leads the MiLC batting charts. Leg-spinner Abhijai Mansingh has been a key player with 13 wickets in 30 overs, posing a serious threat on Dallas' dry wickets.

The NJ Stallions exceeded expectations by securing a playoff spot despite losing captain Jasdeep Singh and young star Sai Teja Mukkamalla to national duty. Their batsmen struggled on subpar pitches, but standout performances from Dominique Rikhi and former UAE all-rounder Rohan Mustafa helped them capitalize when conditions improved. Spinners Siddharth Matani and Sachin Mylavarappu were instrumental, sharing 18 wickets on the slow New York tracks.

The Baltimore Royals also benefited from the rain-affected South Zone, advancing to the Super 8s after three washed-out games. Leg-spinner Sarabjit Ladda, a former IPL player, was a standout, taking 8 wickets at a miserly economy of 4.94. Jacobus Pienaar's powerful 88 against the Ft. Lauderdale Lions was a match-winning performance, and with Abdulahad Malek alongside him, the Royals boast a dangerous top order. Batsmen like Kunwarjeet Singh and Ravi Inder Singh add further depth to their formidable lineup.
